Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts invites you a special conversation with author of The Good Girls, Sonia Faleiro and writer, Prayaag Akbar. This is Episode XXVIII of ListenIN. The Good Girls is a real-life story that captures the complexities and travails of the life of women in rural India. Highlighting how gender intersects with class and caste in Indian society, the book takes us back to the mysterious disappearance of two teenage girls from the village of Katra Sadatganj in Uttar Pradesh. Slipping deftly behind political manoeuvring, caste systems and codes of honour in a village in northern India, The Good Girls returns to the scene of the two protagonists and the tragedy that took place and dares to ask: what is the human cost of shame? In conversation with Prayaag Akbar, the author will talk about the challenges she faced in writing this book and her persistent endeavor to bring to attention those submissive voices that are often ignored and overlooked in our
society. On Zoom Live on 10 February 2021 at 6.30 pm IST. Click here to register.
